With the aid of loupes and microscopes dentists can more accurately determine what certain dental pains are caused by.  The power of magnifications also aids in the ability to treat some conditions that may otherwise not be treatable. 

Further aid is provided by digital imaging that allows the dentists to see certain areas of the mouth and teeth that we would not be able to see by simply looking in the mouth.  We now have the capability to take three dimentional images that allow us to see

Follow these easy tips to better dental hygiene

1. Schedule regular appointments
2. Use xylitol products and limit sodas and energy drinks
3. Use floss at home
4. Brush more than once daily
5. Use a Rotadent electric toothbrush
6. Practice...the more you repeat your flossing and brushing techniques, the sooner they will become a habit!
7. Replace your toothbrush every three months
8. Brush your tongue
9. Educate yourself!  Ask us questions, or do research using professional websites, articles, etc.
10. Take care of your entire body

Here we are at the close of another year. We pause to wish you and all those close to you a warm and happy holiday season. Because the good will of those we serve is the foundation of our success, it is a real pleasure to take this time to say thank-you as we wish you a full year of happiness and prosperity.

We are happy to have survived the hot summer months along with the rest of you. We are really looking forward to the cooler weather of the fall and winter seasons. But like you we are excited to see friends and family during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

As the year-end approaches so do the opportunities to complete your dental treatment and take advantage of your 2011 insurance benefits. Insurance benefits cannot be carried over from one year to the next.  So as of January1, 2012 any unused insurance money is gone. You have given money to your insurance company that you will never get back, unless you use what is left before New Years Eve!  Kim & Saff,                                                                                                           Thank  you for the donation for our Salvation Army Golf Tournament . A recent article from perio.org states “Research has shown, and experts agree, that there is an association between periodontal diseases and other chronic inflammatory conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, treating inflammation may not only help manage periodontal diseases but may also help with the management of other chronic inflammatory conditions.  A periodontal evaluation may be especially important if you:  Have a high risk for periodontal diseases. Have heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease or osteoporosis, or are thinking of becoming pregnant. Have a family member with periodontal disease.”

At our office, we are proud to provide you with a periodontal evaluation every six months at your hygiene appointments.  This is just one of the ways that staying informed about your dental health can help save you money!

Here at the office of Dr. Kimberly Pitts, we know that developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Dr.  Pitts recommends children to visit us with their parents at about age three.

Wondering how to start your young child’s dental experiences?  Dr. Pitts suggests you start by bringing your child along with you for a hygiene appointment.  At this appointment, we can give a tour of our office to your son/daughter and allow them to ask any questions they may have.

Should your child need any restorative work, Dr. Pitts and her staff make it fun for kids!  We explain what we’ll be doing on a level they can easily understand.   We also let them touch our filling material, suction, and feel the air and water that comes out of our dental handpiece.  We feel that doing these things makes your child feel safe and secure in our office.
